Manko / K-State Scholarship Awarded

Roger Clark, a fourth-year architecture student at Kansas State University from Anthony, Kansas, has been awarded a $4,000 scholarship as the winner of a College of Architecture, Planning & Design (APDesign) competition sponsored by Manko Window Systems, Inc.
Vatsal Patel, also a fourth-year architecture student from India, received a $1,000 runner-up scholarship.

Clark’s project, titled “MOVE: A Wichita Dance House,” was developed in Assistant Professor Genevieve Baudoin’s comprehensive studio. The assignment challenged students to integrate conceptual and technical knowledge into a fully developed architectural project, presented through drawings, renderings, and models.

Following an initial review, one student from each studio section was selected to compete for the Manko award. Finalists created narrative slide presentations to showcase their work to a panel of jurors—established professionals in the field of architecture.

Patel’s project, “Solitude and Commune — A Cistercian Monastery,” was created in Assistant Professor Chad Schwartz’s studio.

As part of graduation requirements, both Clark and Patel began academic internships during the Spring 2019 semester.
