Sunshades are more than an attractive feature on a building. They can effectively reduce unwanted solar heat gain while still allowing for beneficial natural light. However, not all solar heat gain is undesirable; solar heat gain on cold winter days can be beneficial. The length and effectiveness of the shadow produced by sunshades will vary with geographical location (latitiude), time of year (sun angle), depth of outrigger (projection from building), louver blade shape, and location of sunshade in relation to glazing.
Proper consideration of these features can lead to significant increase in energy savings and occupant comfort.
Note: Sunshades are not recommended directly over entrances, walkways, patios, or other commonly occupied areas to eliminate the risk of injury due to falling ice or snow.
Storefront system is limited to 31” or shorter outrigger options. Shown with 26” square outrigger, square blade, and square fascia.
